Megan DeFrank is an associate in the firm’s Connecticut office. She concentrates her practice on professional liability, including medical malpractice, tort, and general liability defense. Megan also has extensive experience representing insurance companies, agents, insureds, self-insured entities, and professionals in state and federal courts.

Prior to joining Gfeller Laurie, Megan worked at a regional defense firm, handling cases involving professional liability, employment law, premises liability, and general liability claims.

Megan earned her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she served as an Executive Editor of the Connecticut Law Review. During law school, Megan also served as a research and teaching assistant and was an active member of the Connecticut Moot Court Board, Mock Trial Society, and Women Law Student’s Association.

  • Successfully mediated and settled wrongful death, premises liability, and motor vehicle negligence claims.
  • Prepared and represented clients in depositions involving claims of medical malpractice, accounting malpractice, and motor vehicle, products liability and premises liability claims.
  • Successfully argued dispositive motions, including motions to strike and motions for summary judgment in personal injury and medical malpractice cases arising out of wrongful death claims, motor vehicle accidents, and premises liability claims.
  • Prepared motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment in Federal Court cases involving claims of employment discrimination and legal malpractice.
  • Defended non-party subpoenas for healthcare providers in Federal Court seeking to compel documents and testimony.
  • Obtained dismissal of discrimination claims before the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities.
