Anthony J. Biraglia is an associate in the firm’s Connecticut office with a practice focused primarily on insurance coverage litigation and counseling. Anthony represents insurance carriers in complex coverage matters in state and federal courts across the nation. He frequently provides advice to major domestic and international insurers on defense and indemnification obligations, general claims handling, and extracontractual liability issues under general liability, environmental liability, professional liability, directors and officers liability, and business interruption policies. Anthony also helps clients realize favorable results at mediation and arbitration on a regular basis.

In addition, Anthony has represented clients in commercial litigation and transactional matters involving commercial lending and leasing, asset purchase agreements, stock purchase agreements, and employment contracts. While in law school, Anthony was a staff member of the Wake Forest Law Review and received the CALI Award for Future Excellence in Insurance Law. Prior to joining Gfeller Laurie LLP, Anthony practiced at an AmLaw 50 firm in Washington, D.C., and a regional firm based in Connecticut.

  • Obtained favorable settlement for excess carrier in insurance coverage litigation arising out multibillion-dollar NFL concussion litigation.
  • Represented insurer client in multi-million dollar dispute over insurance coverage for a qui tam action under the False Claims Act.
  • Represented London-based insurance syndicate in litigation and at mediation in connection with business interruption claims made by national restaurant chains resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Represented insurer client in connection with toxic tort litigation arising out of coal ash spill at the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Kingston Fossil Plant.
  • Obtained favorable settlement for an insurer client in a multimillion-dollar dispute with a large West Coast port.
