Gfeller Laurie Names Robert Chomiak, Jr. and Christine Blethen as Counsel

Congratulations to attorneys Robert Chomiak, Jr and Christine Blethen who were recently named Counsel in the firm’s West Hartford office. “Rob’s and Christine’s combined experience of 35+ years in defense of complex civil matters perfectly complement Gfeller Laurie’s specialty legal services,” said Melicent Thompson, Managing Partner. “They each demonstrate the rare combination of keen strategic legal thinking and client-centered service.”

Robert J. Chomiak, Jr. has more than 25 years of experience as a civil defense litigator defending manufacturers, contractors, corporations, and municipalities, among other clients, in Connecticut state and federal courts. He handles complex matters involving tort claims, product liability, motor vehicle and trucking law, and premises liability claims. Rob was named Best Lawyers in America, Personal Injury Litigation-Defendants, Lawyer of the Year (Hartford) in 2022 and 2021. He was a Connecticut Super Lawyer from 2022-2019 and held a Martindale Hubbell-Very High Rating in Both Legal Ability and Ethical Standards in 2023 and 2019. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut state courts and in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. Rob previously practiced civil defense litigation with regional and nationwide insurance defense firms.              

Christine K. Blethen has over 16 years of experience in a broad range of civil litigation matters. She was promoted from Senior Associate to Counsel and focuses her practice on defending complex commercial disputes, general liability and catastrophic loss claims, property management companies and other commercial establishments, educational institutions and employers in employment matters. Christine also represents insurers in complex coverage and bad faith disputes. She is admitted to practice in Connecticut state courts and in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.
