Mark Shifton and Gary Strong to speak at CLM Conference in Boston

News

Next week, GL Partners Mark D. Shifton and Gary Strong will be speaking on separate panels at the 2018 Claims & Litigation Management Alliance’s Management and Professional Liability Conference. Mark’s program, Indecent Exposure: The Erosion of Privity and Expanding Design Professional Liability, will discuss the 2014 California Supreme Court case of Beacon Residential Community Association v. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, which abolished the traditional privity of contract requirement in actions against design professionals, and how courts are increasingly eroding the common-law rule, leading to expanded liability of design professionals. Gary’s program, Artificial Intelligence and the Practice of Law: What Does the Future Hold?, will discuss how artificial intelligence is changing the way the insurance industry underwrites and manages risks, and how the increasing use of artificial intelligence is likely to lead to an increase in cyber claims.
