Robert Laurie and Heather McCoy Obtain Verdict Following Bench Trial on the Application of the “Business Pursuits” Exclusion

After almost a decade of litigation that included a trial, a Connecticut Appellate Court victory, a Connecticut Supreme Court reversal and remand, and a subsequent bench trial, Robert Laurie and Heather McCoy obtained a verdict confirming that the firm’s client correctly applied a Business Pursuits exclusion in a homeowners policy to deny coverage for an insured seeking indemnification for damages resulting from the false imprisonment of an employee who worked in a business office located within the insured home.  A recitation of the remarkable factual scenario and analysis of the law are contained in the Court’s decision, which can be found here.
